Our training recognises the equal value of each of the three key disciplines (singing, acting, and dance) required for musical theatre performance. All students take three hours per week of Core Training, on Saturdays during term time, which comprises one hour of each discipline.
Classes are streamed by age, and importantly, we have a strict limit of 25 students per class. This ensures that students are truly known to and by staff, as individuals. We don’t do crowds.
Core Training is designed and delivered by our Heads of Singing, Acting, and Dance, alongside a consistent stream of guest tutors: actors, creatives and theatre-makers from the West End, Broadway, and top levels of the theatre and performing arts industry.
This provides our students with a “best of both worlds” scenario:
Training from consistent, weekly tutors ensures:
Our staff team can form a clear idea of what each student needs, enabling us to build relationships, track progress, and offer long-term guidance towards students’ goals, and
Students have familiar faces that they know and trust, helping them to build momentum each term.
Training from special guest tutors ensures:
Students have the opportunity to meet, learn about, and be inspired by an incredible range of artists and creatives - role models - who are currently operating at an elite professional level, and
Students learn the vital real-world industry skill of making a great first impression, and
Students have access to teachers with a wider range of skills, approaches, specialisms, backgrounds, and lived experiences.
BECOME A
“TRIPLE THREAT”…
We offer one-to-one tuition in singing, acting, and dance, on a weekly and fortnightly basis, on Saturday afternoons and Wednesday evenings.
In one-to-one lessons, teachers work with students and parents to create bespoke progress plans, focusing on areas and techniques that each student wants to develop, and working towards the student’s personal goals. This can include examination entry, school or professional auditions, or simply driving forward with developing skills and technical ability.
ONE-to-One “ACCELERATOR” Classes
Personal Skills
Personal Skills is a unique innovation of our school. Classes centre around strategies, activities, and techniques to manage anxiety, build resilience, self-confidence, communication skills and teamwork, reduce stress, and work towards a healthy and balanced mind.
We're passionate about helping our young people to deal with everything they go through at present, as well as preparing them to deal confidently and healthily with issues in their future personal and professional lives - whether in an intense, demanding industry like theatre and entertainment, or elsewhere.
Personal Skills classes provide thoughtful and practical support for the present and future.
Students have 30-minute sessions, streamed by age, with a maximum group size of 6 students per session.
Every young person who trains with us is assigned one of our main staff team as a mentor. Mentors meet each of their students individually at least once every term to check in, catch up, discuss any worries or concerns, and to support their development, mental health, and help them to work towards their long-term goals.
In addition to our mentoring structure, we have a full-time General Manager and part-time Assistant General Manager who lead on pastoral care and providing first-class safeguarding for all students and staff.
